The challenge
SuperAurora is an immersive art and music festival held at Castello Chigi (near Rome). The organizers wanted an app that would be more than ‘just’ a schedule—an extension of the festival experience itself, designed to guide thousands of attendees to stages, food vendors, restrooms, and first-aid stations, with ease and clarity, even at night.
App + Augmented Reality
We built a mobile app featuring: a home screen with live news and an always-visible SOS button; an interactive, day-by-day lineup with filters (Day 1 / Day 2 / Day 3) and detailed artist profiles (Carl Cox, Silent Bob & Sick Budd, Kid Yugi…); and an Augmented Reality mode that activates the camera to overlay directions for Entrances/Exits, Restrooms, First Aid, Food & Drink, and Stages.
Holograms and exclusive content
As you walk through the area, the app recognizes your location and reveals holograms and exclusive content hidden throughout the park—a gamification layer that has transformed moving between stages into a digital treasure hunt.
Results
The app has become the festival’s primary digital touchpoint. It reduced inquiries to staff—such as “where are the restrooms?”—to zero, increased the average time spent in the food area, and generated tens of thousands of AR interactions over the three days of the live event.
